In Short: Our Legs are Powerful.

Tight shorts are one of those polarising items of clothing, they either bring back memories of being young and carefree, or some sort of PTSD moment. For us, it was the latter, and no matter how cool and trendy bike shorts got in recent years, we couldn't shake this feeling of terror at the thought of wearing a pair.

Rebecca and I played Volleyball, a game synonymous with wearing bike 'booty' shorts and squatting while everyone else watched you for several hours, all throughout our teen years. And like most young, carefree teenagers - loved wearing cute bike shorts to all our games, tournaments and training sessions. It wasn't until our later years of puberty that we started hearing comments and connotations made about us while wearing bike shorts. Misguided phrases like "Oh you guys have thunder thighs", or "Oh my goodness, cellulites is the most disgusting thing to ever look at" that (intentionally or not) made us second guess our worth and value and how that was linked by this piece of clothing.

Subconsciously since then, we've both always had a negative response or reaction to most shorts, let alone bike shorts. Even soon after, whilst still playing Volleyball, Bec and I would regularly say..."Does my cellulite look bad?" after getting changed to go train or play a game. Something which NO woman should ever have to say or think!

Ten years on from our Volleyball days, we've gotten to a point in understanding our own inherent worth and value (which FYI isn't in what we wear!), and focussing on our holistic health and fitness that we can say "STUFF IT" and wear the shorts! And do you know how liberating it feels? In short: our legs are powerful, they're strong, they enable us to move, to fulfill our purpose - to walk with a boldness and confidence like no other.

With the variety of styles, lengths (6", 8" or 10") and technical fabrics, lululemon have made it easy to find a fit to feel confident in.

Pairing our new bike shorts with our favourite lululemon Muscle Tanks, shirts or trenches creates a seamless gym - (or at-home gym if you're like us in Melbourne) to coffee run look. Our favourite thing about activewear is how effortless it can be styled to wear every day by just adding a piece of clothing that isn't traditionally associated with exercise or training. A lightweight trench coat or cotton shirt is the perfect addition to firstly, add some coverage (if you're just stepping your toe into the bike short pool), but it also add a 'model-off-duty look'. Swap your trainers for casual sneakers and you're ready in a look that's super stylish, undone and (best of all) comfortable!

So we challenge you, to honour you just as as you. are and wear the shorts.

In short: Own your story. Our legs are powerful.
